What we do
The Early Years in a child’s life are where the foundations of all learning are laid. Children’s early learning experiences impact on their future educational journeys. Between the age of 0 - 8 years, children have an innate curiosity about the world around them. At Budding Learners Early Learning, we are passionate about channelling your child’s curiosity and supporting them to reach their full potential.
We apply a combination of Early Intervention and Early Learning practices to:
identify your child’s specific learning needs and strengths.
develop SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely) goals you would like to see your child achieve.
observe your child’s body language, actions, gestures, facial expressions and their social interactions at home and in the community to design a comprehensive individualised program to support your child to reach their goals.
explore meaningful learning activities.
hone in on your child’s preferred learning style to build a supportive and adaptive environment, where your child feels understood and empowered to independently navigate their world.
become aware of their emotional needs and develop strategies to support their self-esteem and pro-social behaviour.
empower you to better understand your child’s development and feel confident to respond to their needs.
Through practice and repetition, we will support your child to achieve their goals by consolidating what they have learnt, and when they are confident, extend on and build their knowledge and skills.
Learning through Play
Play is the word used to explain children’s inborn wish to explore their world. When children play, they learn and develop new ideas and skills. It is important for children to be surrounded by adults who have an understanding of the value of play and how to nurture children’s natural drive for play.
We will support your child’s learning and development through the power of play, using intentional teaching strategies for example prompting, modelling and open questioning to expand and challenge your child’s critical thinking, test out their ideas, and build new understandings.
Social Communication
We will empower you to support your child’s social communication through child-led play. By following your child’s lead, you can view the world through their eyes and create reciprocal meaningful ongoing interactions to build your child’s language and communication skills.
School Readiness
Starting school is a big milestone for your child and family. It can be both challenging and exciting. Every child develops at their own stage and their journey is unique to them. It's always best to be prepared with as much information as you can, and have time to process, unpack and make an informed decision.
This is achieved by completing a school readiness checklist with you, to give us insight into your child's learning and development across their fine, gross motor and cognitive skills, social and communication skills and independence skills. We will use this information to help us to determine which areas your child might need additional practice with before school.
In addition, we are also available to accompany you on school tours. We offer guidance and support with choosing a school that reflects your family’s cultural values and preferences and meets your practical needs, and compare different schools’ sizes, class arrangements, facilities, extracurricular activities, results and so on.
We are passionate about supporting your child to successfully transition to school by preparing them for what to expect from their school environment, as familiarity and predictability will help your child feel safe, and secure, and set them up for success.
Emotion Coaching
Does your child demonstrate challenging emotional reactions where they become frustrated, overwhelmed, and you notice their emotions go from 0 to 100 very quickly. Or are they shy and slower to interact with unfamiliar people or situations. These children require support from their parents/caregivers to regulate and manage their emotions.
We will support you to develop the knowledge and skills to become aware of your child’s emotions and communicate your understanding and acceptance of their emotions. You will be able to help your child to use words to describe how they feel, validate that all feelings are acceptable, and support them to express their feelings appropriately. We will also provide you with calming strategies to support your child to self-regulate their emotions.
Fine Motor Skills
Fine motor skills are about the small muscle movements in the fingers, hands and forearms. They are complex and involve a coordinated effort between the brain and muscles. Fine motor skills are essential for performing everyday skills like self-care tasks (e.g. cleaning teeth, using cutlery) and especially important for your child to develop appropriate independence to complete tasks at school for example doing up buttons, opening their lunch box, the latch on the toilet door or using pencils or scissors. We will support your child to develop their fine motor skills by creating fun activities for your child to engage in.
